The Ugly Roots of the Surveillance State
We've arrived at a point where billions of us have opted in to types of surveillance that would have caused massive demonstrations just a couple of decades ago.
Surveillance is not new. I mean, let's be real, Adam and Eve were under some pretty pervasive surveillance, right? The Garden of Eden was the original Life 360 situation.
Fast forward a few bazillion years (or a few thousand depending on your worldview) and we've arrived at a point where billions of us have opted in to types of surveillance that would have caused massive demonstrations just a couple of decades ago. We carry shiny little surveillance devices with us everywhere we go and our smart/stupid TVs take constant screenshots of what we're watching and upload them to who-knows-where for processing, analysis, and algorithmic fine-tuning.
We've strayed so far from the light.
And yet, Fredo told us it was coming 52 years ago. If only we had listened. This is The Conversation.
